On Sunday afternoon, April 19, we all met at the train station to take the hour and forty minute trip to the town of Sosnovo, just north of St. Petersburg. The train trip is interesting and it makes several stops along the way. Vendors are going through each car as it travels selling everything from crab-flavored potato chips to ice cream. I opted for the ice cream bars!
On Thursday, April 16, I had made plans to make an exploratory trip to Estonia to investigate the possibility of SAC doing mission trips to this country. It’s been on my heart for about a year that SAC needs to expand to other areas and other areas within the former Soviet Union. A few months ago I looked into going to the Ukraine.
It’s sad but true. After four months of effort, and nearly $75,000 poured into the restoration of the Baby Home to bring it up to fire code compliance, the government has now decided in mid-June to close the Baby Home after all and release the director and her 100+ staff that had served the children of this home.
Despite the Global Economic Crisis, 2009 appears to be a year of change and growth for Strategic Angel Care (SAC). We are working on a number of new initiatives to further the mission of SAC.
